Are You Awake?

By Lia Fenelon

So many of us feel unhappy or dissatisfied with our lives but do nothing about it.  We know there is more to life than what we are currently experiencing but we don’t know how to attain it.  It seems, deep down, we’re scared, don’t know what to do or don’t know what we want; so most of us just ignore the emotion and carry on with our old routines regardless.  But we shouldn’t, because these feelings are our wake up call.  It’s our Soul, our Spirit, our Higher-Self saying, yes there is more to life and you have to go get it.

At some point we have to put ourselves first and make ourselves the centre of our lives.  It’s not about being selfish or throwing everyone else in our lives aside, it is just that when we are happy, every else around us is a little happier.  If you’re not sure, think of the people in your life.  Who do you enjoy being around?  The relative who tells anyone who will listen how hard they had it growing up, how terrible life is and how it’s only going to get worse? The work colleague who is constantly moaning about her job, her love life, her weight? Or the friend, who always has a smile, has something good to say about everything, is optimistic and looks at the bright side of life.

When you know where you’re going and what you want from life, you feel happy and empowered. Yet how often do you moan along with others or stress about your life they way they do?  The hated job, the difficult partner or an absence of one, the lack of money?

We are all being called to wake up. If you don’t like your life why not change it and let people take their cue from you?   If your life is not currently working for you, you’re being asked to do something about it, and to do something better; something that will really have you living an abundant, joyful life.

Maybe the change for is to get out of that you that hate your job.  If so, don’t just snatch up the classifieds and apply for a new one.  That’s a knee jerk reaction and will keep you on the same old path.  Instead why not take the time to figure out what you’d really like to do, what you’d love to do for a living? And if you need help with that, go get it.  There are lots of resources out there - from books that help you to find your passion and purpose, to Career Coaches, Life Coaches and those that specialise in helping you find your Life Purpose.

Or perhaps you have had enough of being single or always finding the “wrong one” rather than Mr Right.  If what you want is a new love in your life or to find your Soulmate think about what changes you may need to make within yourself to attract this.  Do you take enough care with your appearance?  Do you value yourself and consider yourself worthy of true love? If you don’t know what to do to attract love you could simply have fun and try some thing new.  Maybe something even something wild and wacky like a love spell or ritual (hey, if it works…).  You could try affirmations and exercises on seeing the best in yourself and attracting a partner…or if your really serious, see a Love Coach.

If you want something better, something more than what you have, something that brings you joy and makes your heart sing, then you have to go get it.  It’s no use waiting for someone to come and save you and set your life to rights, because it’s not going to happen.  You need to evaluate your life as it is, see what is working and what is not, figure out how you want your life to be and take the steps to make it happen. And you don’t need to do it alone there are many people out there ready and happy to help you.

So, Wake Up!
