We now live in an exciting era of progress, and rapid change in health delivery innovation and the following six super forces are working together to help address disease prevention and promote health:

Thanks to advancements in chip technology, sensors are now relatively inexpensive and are being used by many to track heart rate, exercise intensity and duration, diet, and even sleep cycles. Sensors can measure the effectiveness of health interventions and therapies and provide invaluable feedback to both individuals and their health care team.
Today, data is continuously gathered from all areas of our lives. From cell phones and social media to sensors and electronic health records, a tremendous amount of information is collected that could provide potential insights into the health of a company’s workforce. The synthesis of all the available data may collectively help guide health therapies and develop new treatments to address disease, prevent infections and disease spread, and improve the overall health of populations.
The Internet of everything now connects our “wired” world more effectively than in the past. The consequence of this means that information about disease prevention, health discoveries, and news of breakthrough therapies in disease treatment can travel fast and potentially lead to collaborations that leverage the brain trust of our connected world in a way that was not possible before. Both individuals and populations may benefit from this rapid knowledge sharing and could help to inform existing and future therapies.
Synthetic biology is a rapidly growing interdisciplinary field. It is now possible to leverage branches of biology, biotechnology, biophysics, and genetic engineering to design and construct biologic devices and systems for practical purposes to address disease. An Artificial Intelligence (AI) revolution is not coming; the revolution is already here. AI is fundamentally changing the landscape of many companies, including health care, and many company leaders are not prepared. A new paradigm of health care delivery is on the horizon that will impact the health of workers and the leaders responsible for managing their respective workforces. AI technology, coupled with the abundance of data stored on patients, may help us to understand heart disease at a fundamentally better level to facilitate treatment and therapeutics to help individuals more effectively and efficiently.

It will be people and the capital resource of human ingenuity, creativity, and discovery that will lead to the next breakthrough in conquering heart disease and promoting heart health.
